National Reconciliation Week 2025: Bridging Now to Next

At Juniper sites around the state, National Reconciliation Week 2025 offered an opportunity for staff, customers and volunteers to come together and reflect on what reconciliation means to them.

This year’s theme of ‘Bridging Now to Next’ called on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.

At Juniper Central, staff gathered for a morning tea event that explored the role of the Yokai organisation, which supports the Aboriginal community and Stolen Generations Survivors.

Presentations at the morning tea also talked about the importance of reconciliation now and into the future, and how everyone at Juniper had a role in helping achieve it.

Juniper staff then contributed to a collective artwork by colouring paper leaves that were later added to a tree-themed art installation.

Damper, bliss balls and more tasty selections prepared by the bushtukka catering group All Good Grub was another way for staff to get together and continue the reconciliation conversation.

At Juniper sites such as the Juniper Kununurra Day Centre, clients enjoyed a barbecued breakfast. The combination of perfectly cooked meats and freshly made damper, along with a classic country music soundtrack and fire pit was warmly received by everyone.

Clients, staff members and volunteers in Kununurra also added their own unique designs to a leaf-shaped outline that have since been added to a beautiful Boab tree art installation that takes pride of place in the day centre.
