“I enjoy being able to help customers, listen to them, and make their day a little easier. Even small things can make a big difference to someone and I love being part of that,” says Hemanthi Pilapitiya of her role as the first point of contact for many of Juniper’s Home Care customers.
As receptionist and administration assistant for Juniper Home, Hemanthi works on the front desk at the Bentley office and is often among the first people customers connect with, whether they walk through the door or make a phone call in.
“Every day I chat with customers, answer their questions, and guide them to the right person or service they need,” Hemanthi says.
“I want customers to feel comfortable and looked after. When they call or visit I want them to leave feeling reassured like someone listened, cared, and took the time to help them properly.”
Before Juniper, Hemanthi worked in manufacturing, but with the move to aged care has found her job far more rewarding.
“You can actually see the impact your service has on someone’s day and on their life and that makes the work feel important.
“I’ve always believed in giving back to the community and working in aged care is a way for me to do that every day. It lets me support people who genuinely need our services and that makes the work meaningful.”
As well as working on the front desk, Hemanthi is part of a team that manages a wide range of behind‑the‑scenes tasks, including banking, fleet management, building maintenance requests, ordering supplies for our Community Support Workers and Care Partners, and preparing home files for Care Partners.
“I love that we get the chance to help older people stay independent and live well. Being able to support them, answer their questions, and make their lives more comfortable even in small ways is something I really value.”
