Lesley’s loving the Juniper life

Lesley Williams proudly regards Juniper Annesley Residential Aged Care Home as her home and her family.

After 22 years with Juniper, she is eminently qualified to feel that way!

At the turn of the century, Lesley was itching for a sea change with her family, so she migrated to Perth in 2002 from London.

Lesley was originally employed as a part-time cleaner and about a year after she joined Juniper she jumped at an opportunity to join the laundry team.

It’s the people and camaraderie which led to her longevity with Juniper.

“I’ve made some good friends here,” Lesley said.

“I’m still friends with people who have retired. There’s a group of about 10 of us who catch up regularly.

“I love working here.”

Unequivocally, it’s getting to know the customers which has maintained Lesley’s passion for her job after two decades.

“I’ve had so many interactions with customers and their families over the years – we’ve laughed and cried together,” she said.

“I believe I have comforted families of customers during tough times.”

Annesley Residential Manager Asha Kayaga said Lesley is an integral part of the Annesley DNA.

“Lesley’s dedication and warmth have left a lasting impression on colleagues and residents,” she said.

“Her ability to foster genuine connections has enriched Annesley and brought comfort to many families, staff and residents.”

After spending more than 20 years in Perth, Lesley can officially call herself a local.

With her family well and truly settled in Perth, she can’t imagine herself anywhere else but Juniper Annesley.

“The only thing that would make me leave would be if I found a rich man or I won the lotto,” she joked.

“I think even if I won the lotto, I’d still come in and volunteer.”

Lesley recalls vividly the day when Annesley first opened in October 2007 as it was her birthday.
