Juniper partners with Esperance Aged Care Facility

Juniper and Esperance Aged Care Facility (EACF) are in exclusive negotiations to transition the Residential Aged Care facility and Independent Living Units, ensuring the future of Esperance community’s high-quality aged care services.

Esperance Aged Care Facility Chair Mick Curnow said after a careful, independent and thorough process announced in January, the Board had selected Juniper as its new operating partner.

“After a considered and robust process to identify a suitable partner for the Esperance Aged Care Facility, we are pleased to announce this partnership with Juniper, who share our values and commitment to community.

The Board will continue to work alongside Juniper as the transition takes place.

We have recently updated our staff, residents and their families, and the Juniper team are meeting with them to answer any questions they may have.

It’s very important to us that staff and residents in our facility and at the Independent Living Units feel supported and well informed, and we will ensure this continues during the transition, Mr Curnow said.

Juniper CEO Russell Bricknell said Juniper, one of WA’s largest not-for-profit care providers with a strong presence in regional and remote areas, was looking forward to forging strong relationships with the Esperance community.

“We are pleased to be partnering with the Esperance Aged Care Facility to be able to continue the retirement living village and the delivery of quality care and accommodation for customers and their families in this beautiful pocket of Western Australia,” Mr Bricknell said.

“EACF’s historical commitment to elevating the voices of customers and staff aligns strongly with Juniper’s values and will continue to guide our work into the future.”

Juniper’s commitment to ensuring all Western Australians, no matter where they live, can access high quality aged care services close to family, friends, and familiar surroundings is reflected in its unmatched footprint in WA.

“We have a proud tradition of delivering quality care in regional and remote areas,” he said.

“Esperance is a vibrant and close-knit community with a rich history. We look forward to building a strong relationship with the local community and most importantly delivering much-needed high quality care for years to come.

“As we move through this transition, our focus remains on continuity of care and supporting residents and their families through the process and listening and responding to what matters most to them.”

The Esperance Aged Care Facility, started in the 1960s, has 104 beds and 16 Independent Living Units. As one of a handful of stand-alone aged care facilities in WA, EACF has operated with extraordinary community support.

Earlier this year the Board announced that it planned to seek an experienced care and investment partner to ensure EACF could continue to thrive in an environment of sustained increase in regulatory and compliance requirements.

The transition is subject to regulatory approvals.
