The Juniper Customer and Brand team returned to Have a Go Day Rockingham for the second year running on Wednesday, joining a vibrant expo hosted by the Seniors Recreation Council of WA at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex.
Running from 10am to 2pm, the event was a celebration of community and active ageing, drawing older Western Australians together for a day of activities including archery, lawn bowls, pickleball and square dancing, with Juniper’s own Tracey Izard, Customer Support and Sales Lead, joining in on the dancing.
The Juniper stall was a busy one, with a raffle offering five grocery and fuel vouchers drawing plenty of interest throughout the day. The five winners have since been announced on Juniper’s social media pages, congratulations to the lucky five!
Rebecca Connor, Juniper’s Customer Engagement Advisor, said the atmosphere on the day was great. “The vibe was fantastic, really positive and full of energy,” she said.
“Everyone I spoke to genuinely enjoyed the opportunity to try something new or reconnect with activities they hadn’t done in years. It was especially great seeing people step outside their comfort zones, watching attendees give pickleball a go was a real highlight.”
Beyond the activities, the day gave the team a chance to have real conversations with older people and their families about navigating aged care.
Rebecca said many people shared that they found the aged care system confusing, particularly around funding. “There’s a real need for clear, friendly guidance, and it was great to be able to offer some clarity and reassurance,” she said.
“Events like this give us the chance to connect with people in a relaxed, fun environment and show that we’re not just about care, we’re about supporting people to live full, engaged lives. Getting to know older people beyond their care needs helps us have more meaningful conversations when supporting them on their aged care journey.”
The sausage sizzle, of course, was also a highlight.
Juniper is proud to support the Seniors Recreation Council of WA and looks forward to returning, including at Have a Go Day Burswood on Wednesday 12 November.
