Juniper creates affordable housing options in Waterman’s Bay

Juniper’s Euroka Retirement Living Village has welcomed 13 new residents who have quickly become part of the blossoming community following a rejuvenation project at Watermans Bay.

The newest residents joined after a refurbishment, designed to offer more affordable housing in the area.

There are now 27 residents living at Euroka Village, which is close to public transport, shops and the ocean. Euroka Village offers affordable rental accommodation. There are currently no available properties, however, if you are interested you can join our rental waitlist by contacting housing@juniper.org.au

“There’s a real sense of community and renewal,” Retirement Living Manager Mandy McLearie said, describing a recent morning tea to celebrate the project.

Euroka Village has a community lounge and a communal laundry with generous gardens and a veggie patch maintained by members of the community.

The new residents, drawn from Juniper’s waitlist, were happy to participate in a genuinely warm and welcoming community.

Chief Operating Officer Accommodation Jacob Hollenberg said in the context of a difficult housing market, Juniper’s goal was to create more affordable housing options for older Western Australians.

“Like so many Western Australians, the housing shortages and cost of living crisis is impacting many older people in this state. By doing this project we are able to offer a safe home and community for people,” Mr Hollenberg said.

“Long-standing residents and new arrivals are telling us how much the changes and improvements have contributed to a lively sense of community.”

Euroka Village renewal has created opportunities to build new friendships and forge greater community connections with neighbours.
