Juniper is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor David Gilchrist and Dr Shane Kelly as Independent Board Members.
Both bring extensive leadership experience and sector knowledge across aged care, health and human services.
Dr Shane Kelly (MBBS, MBA, MPH, FRACMA, FCHSM, CHE, FAICD), pictured left, joined the Board in January 2026. A highly respected senior health executive, Dr Kelly has nearly 40 years’ experience across Australia’s public and private health sectors, including more than two decades in CEO roles including as Group CEO of St John of God Health Care and Mater Ltd.
Dr Kelly is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Medicine at the University of Notre Dame Australia and currently serves as Deputy Chair of the WA Country Health Service and was Director on the Child & Adolescent Health Services Board.
Professor David Gilchrist (BA, BBus, PhD, FCA), pictured right, was appointed in February 2026. He is Director of the Centre for Public Value at the University of Western Australia and has more than 30 years’ experience across disability services, aged care and child protection in executive, consulting and governance roles.
Professor Gilchrist has previously held senior positions with the WA Parliament and served as Assistant Auditor General for Western Australia. A former Associate Dean at the University of Notre Dame Australia, he has also advised Commonwealth and state governments on human services sustainability and governance. He is a former member of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Advisory Board and has authored more than 200 reports and publications and written or contributed to 10 books.
Their appointments further strengthen Juniper’s governance capability and commitment to delivering high-quality care and services to older Western Australians.
