COVID-19 Update 2 July 2021, 5:00pm

The WA Government announced today, that pending no further local cases of COVID-19, the Perth and Peel lockdown will end as planned at 12.01am Saturday 3 July 2021 with Interim Restrictions in place until 12.01am Tuesday 6 July 2021.

Following that, further transitional restrictions will be in place until 12.01am Monday 12 July 2021.

The full announcement can be read here.

The below information explains what this means for Juniper’s residential aged care facilities, home and community care services and retirement living communities over the next three days.

We will continue to update our website to reflect any changes to restrictions over the coming days.

Residential Aged Care – Perth Region

In accordance with the State Government announcement, from 12.01am Saturday 3 July 2021, all Juniper Perth metropolitan residential care facilities will continue to have full visitor restrictions in place until 12.01am Tuesday 6 July 2021.

Visits will only be permitted for exceptional circumstances in accordance with Visitors to Residential Aged Care Facilities (Circuit-break Lockdown (Level 3) Directions) and must be arranged with the Residential Manager. A mask must be worn at all times during permitted visits.

All student placements, volunteer shifts and all other non-essential services remain suspended during this period.

We understand the importance of keeping our residential care residents and families connected as much as possible during times of restricted visitation and we are committed to helping residents and their loved ones stay in regular contact. Our residential care teams will assist with video and phone calls between residents and families and our therapy teams are well prepared to provide a choice of enjoyable activities to help residents stay busy and entertained.

We will be working closely with families to ensure communication with residents is continued throughout this time.

Regional Residential Care Facilities in Geraldton, Northam, Katanning, Albany and the Kimberley

Visitors who have been in the Perth or Peel regions since Sunday 27 June 2021 are not permitted entry to Juniper’s regional residential care facilities, unless in exceptional circumstances and this must be arranged with the Residential Manager.

All Juniper Residential Care Facilities

All visitors to Juniper residential care facilities are required to comply with Juniper’s visiting arrangements which include health and temperature screening, and declarations regarding travel, exposure to COVID-19, or visiting an Exposure Site or a quarantine facility.

It is also essential that anyone entering a residential aged care facility maintain physical distancing, good hand hygiene and cough etiquette to help prevent the spread of infection.

For more information, please contact the Residential Manager or Clinical Nurse Manager at your site.

Home and Community Care

Our Home and Community Care clients will continue to receive their essential services during this period of Interim Restrictions. Our staff will continue to wear face masks during visits and will call clients in advance to ask pre-screening questions before attending their residence.

It is vital that clients who have attended the Exposure Sites during the times specified as listed by the Health Department, please disclose this to staff prior to receiving a visit, to ensure all care is taken when delivering essential support.

The health and safety of our clients, your family, carers and our staff members are our first priority. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and are taking action to ensure our clients are able to access the care, services and advice they need.

If you are feeling unwell, we ask that you please reconsider your services and phone us to discuss options so that together, we can keep every one of our clients and staff safe and well.

In addition, our staff will continue to practice good hand hygiene, reduce unnecessary contact, and adopt other precautions including, for example, wearing a face mask.

Retirement Living – Perth Region

We remind our retirement living communities to follow WA Government directions, including wearing a mask outside their home at all times during this Interim Restrictions period.

A 10-person limit applies to home gatherings and a 20-person limit applies to outdoor gatherings during this time.

All common areas and cafes will reopen but are limited to the 4 sqm rule and the 20-person capacity limit.

Our Retirement Living Coordinators will be working from home at least until Tuesday 6 July 2021.

All residents are reminded to always maintain physical distancing, good hand hygiene and cough etiquette, and if you are experiencing any symptoms, please see your GP.

Currently no Juniper staff or resident has tested positive to COVID-19.

Thanks to our entire Juniper community for your ongoing cooperation as we respond to this rapidly evolving situation. Your understanding and patience is always very much appreciated.

This information will be updated as further information comes to hand.
