Juniper is pleased to announce the Whitford Senior Citizens’ Club are the winner of Juniper’s $500 Community Sponsorship as part of its 2025 Have a Go Day competition.
As part of Have A Go Day festivities earlier this month, we offered people a chance to nominate their local community club to go into the draw to win a sponsorship.
“Whitford Senior Citizens’ Club is a shining example of what it means to keep older Western Australians connected to their community, each other and to a fantastic range of activities,” Juniper Customer Support and Sales Lead Tracey Izard said.
“The importance of organisations like Whitford Senior Citizens’ Club in connecting people for social support as well as access to affordable exercise and activities can’t be understated.”
Club member Jane Burns said the club fostered a vibrant community where seniors could continue to enjoy life, connecting with long-held hobbies and opportunities to try something new.
Jane said the club was welcoming, inclusive and offered something for everyone.
“Our Keep Fit classes focus on maintaining balance through ageing,” she said.
“A lot of the activities are aligned with members’ interests prior to retirement, but the variety is there for everyone to learn new things.
“It’s good for physical, emotional and mental health. We tick all the boxes to support healthy ageing.”
The organisation also offered a pick-up service for members and takes them to the club to ensure everyone could attend.
The importance of socialising and partaking in meaningful activities are essential to happiness for many older Western Australians, according to Juniper’s recently released independent research The Voice of Older Western Australians.
The four elements essential to happiness were spending time with family (72%), socialising with friends (65%), participating in meaningful hobbies and activities (57%) and exercise (57%).
