Physiotherapy at home

Juniper has an in-house team of expert physiotherapists and therapy assistants that can support you at home to build and maintain strength, assist rehabilitation, support independence and improve your general wellbeing.

Our expert aged care physiotherapists can make a world of difference for Home Care customers. They can weave their magic in many ways, like maintaining strength and balance; managing pains and aches; helping reduce falls; and putting strategies and aids in place to keep you safe at home.

At Juniper, our in-house Allied Health staff can be covered by either your Home Care Package or Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP).

Benefits of a Physiotherapist for Home Care

A Home Care physiotherapist can improve or maintain your physical abilities through exercises and hands-on therapy so you can remain living at home safely.

  • Improve or maintain your strength, balance and stamina so that you can carry on with the activities that you enjoy doing.
  • Manage your pains and aches to help you continue to enjoy the activities that you do.
  • Advise and provide exercises to help you reduce any falls or near misses that you may have experienced.
  • Physiotherapy can be one-on-one or group-based exercises that not only improve strength, balance and stamina, but are also a great place to get chatting and make friends.

How do you know if you will benefit from seeing a physiotherapist?

There are many benefits to seeing a physiotherapist. Some of these benefits include maintaining physical health, mobility and seeing an improvement to your overall well-being. As well as this, customers will also benefit from seeing a physiotherapist if they have:

  • Limited mobility
  • Recently had a fall or had near misses like trips or loss of balance
  • Are suffering from pain
  • Have decreased strength and balance
  • Have limited flexibility and range of nmotion
  • Have recently had surgery or an injury
  • Have bad posture

Your Juniper Customer Care Lead will work with you to create a Care Plan so you receive the right services to achieve your goals.

That might mean you want to be able to walk down the street to the park. That means a physiotherapist might be right for you to work on strength, stamina and balance so you are able and confident to make that park trip.

Or maybe you want to be able to catch the bus to get to your favourite activity but the step onto the bus is too daunting? Our physiotherapist can work on strength and balance, while other members of our allied health team like an occupational therapist can help find the right aids and our podiatrist can recommend on which footwear would be best to provide you with support and stability whilst you are out.

Shirley's story

“He (Juniper physiotherapist Kyle Ho) was brilliant, professional, on time, easy to understand and very supportive. He listened to me and gave me confidence to listen to my body as I was always rushing around being a carer to my husband – that’s why I was tripping, and he taught me to slow down.” – Shirley McGladdery, Juniper customer

The benefit of having an in-house allied health team at Juniper

At Juniper, having our own Physiotherapists means we have great communication and collaboration, better efficiency as we can refer internally, and can provide continuity of care. It is also cheaper for our customers to go in-house than source an external allied health service.

Our Juniper clinical team have regular meetings where we discuss different customers’ issues so that we can have the best unified approach to solving an issue. Because we have in-house allied health professionals and nurses, it means you don’t need to shop around if you need to be seen by another discipline as we can refer internally to make it a seamless process.

Juniper Day Therapy Centres with physiotherapy services

We offer our physiotherapy services in many ways and places, such as in our clinics in our Day Therapy Centres, North in Karrinyup and South in Bentley, group sessions in our therapy centres in Karrinyup, Dianella and Bentley, hydrotherapy in Wilson, and of course physiotherapy in the comfort of your own home. Where your sessions will take place will be discussed in collaboration between yourself and your Juniper physiotherapist following your initial assessment in your home.

For our aged care physiotherapy offered by our in-house Allied Health staff, our services can be covered by either your Home Care Package or Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). For more information about accessing our aged care physio services, please speak to your Juniper Care Lead or contact our team today on 1300 313 000.
