Future proofing our workforce

We are proud of our reputation as a learning organisation and collaborate with Curtin University in numerous ways to provide valuable, high quality clinical learning experiences for health science students.

An Interprofessional Practice Program (IPP) at one of our largest care homes in Bentley, Juniper Annesley, facilitates placements for health science students specialising in a range of disciplines including nursing, physiotherapy and speech pathology.

Not only is the IPP boosting clinical capabilities and bringing a greater level of care to our residents who enjoy immensely the interactions with students and staff, it is promoting aged care as a rewarding and exciting career path to students – the health professionals of the future.

Juniper Simulation Centre

Our award-winning Simulation Centre at Juniper Rowethorpe in Bentley is another successful collaboration between Juniper and Curtin University, that uses advanced technology to create a realistic and practical learning environment for health science students.

The Juniper Simulation Centre re-creates a home/residential care setting for students, complete with real-life Juniper Volunteers playing the role of clients and residents. Best practice technology allows training scenarios to be recorded and played back to classrooms for constructive evaluation and reflection.

This fresh and engaging method of education and training, is providing the next generation of healthcare professionals with invaluable, practical aged care experience.

Over 500 Curtin University health science students and Juniper staff members go through the Centre each year and since opening, it has been recognised with multiple industry awards.
