Palliative Care in Aged Care
Juniper provides elderly palliative care services and support to residents in aged care who require it
End of life care with Juniper includes elderly palliative care which is provided with the utmost empathy, respect, and compassion.
Palliative Care is not a means to end or prolong life.
Our palliative care services provided to those in aged care involve careful medical, social, spiritual and other interventions so that a person’s pain and other distressing symptoms are best managed for their comfort in the final years or months of life.
Palliative care at Juniper is an inclusive and positive response to end of life where loved ones and family members are supported in a caring and professional manner.
We aim to make this time as comfortable and fulfilling as possible by promoting quality of life while supporting family and significant others. If your family member or a loved one is currently a Juniper resident who requires palliative care in aged care, please get in touch with our team today to further discuss support and arrangements.
What Does Palliative Care Involve in Juniper’s Residential Aged Care homes?
When it comes to providing palliative care services in aged care, our high standard of nursing and care promotes quality of life while respecting and supporting individual choices. We talk with families to tailor our palliative care responses to the individual’s needs and requirements.
We regard one’s end of life as a profound natural event, so we seek to positively respond by working together to:
- Affirm life and dying as a normal process
- Provide relief from pain and other distressing symptoms
- Neither to hasten or postpone death
- Combine psychological and spiritual responses to care
- Support people to live as actively as possible until death
- Help family members and friends cope during their loved one’s illness and in their own bereavement.
