COVID-19 Update 28 June 2021, 10:00pm - Juniper

COVID-19 Update 28 June 2021, 10:00pm

In response to confirmed community transmission of COVID-19 in Western Australia, the WA Government announced at 8pm on Monday 28 June 2021 that the Perth and Peel regions will enter a four-day lockdown effective from 12:01am Tuesday 29 June 2021 through to 12:01am Saturday 3 July 2021. The full announcement can be read here.

COVID-19 is highly contagious and protecting the health and safety of our residents, clients, staff and volunteers is always our top priority.

Residential Aged Care – Perth Region

In response to the State Government announcement, from 12:01am Tuesday 29 June 2021, all Juniper Perth metropolitan Residential Care Facilities will have full visitor restrictions in place through to 12:01am Saturday 3 July 2021.

Visits will only be permitted for exceptional circumstances in accordance with the Visitors to Residential Aged Care Facilities (Outbreak Restrictions Level 3) Directions at the discretion of the Residential Manager. A mask must be worn at all times for permitted visits.

All student placements, volunteer shifts and all other non-essential services are cancelled for the period of the lockdown.

We understand the importance of keeping our Residential Care Facilities residents and families connected as much as possible during times of restricted visitation and we are committed to helping residents and their loved ones stay in regular contact. Our residential care teams will assist with video and phone calls between residents and families and our therapy teams are well prepared to provide a choice of enjoyable activities to help residents stay busy and entertained.

We will be working closely with families to ensure communication with residents is continued throughout this time.

Regional Residential Care Facilities in Geraldton, Northam, Katanning, Albany and the Kimberley

Visitors from the Perth or Peel regions to Juniper’s regional residential care facilities must wear a mask and maintain social distancing of 1.5m at all times.

All Juniper Residential Care Facilities

All visitors to Juniper residential care facilities are required to comply with the visiting arrangements which include health and temperature screening, and declarations regarding travel, exposure to COVID-19, or visiting an Exposure Site or a quarantine facility.

It is also essential that anyone entering a residential aged care facility maintain physical distancing, good hand hygiene and cough etiquette to help prevent the spread of infection.

For more information, please contact the Residential Manager or Clinical Nurse Manager at your site.

Home and Community Care

Our Home and Community Care clients will continue to receive their essential services during the current lockdown. Our staff will wear face masks during visits and will continue to call clients in advance to ask pre-screening questions before attending their residence.

It is vital that clients who have attended the Exposure Sites during the times specified as listed by the Health Department, please disclose this to staff prior to receiving a visit, to ensure all care is taken when delivering essential support.

The health and safety of our clients, your family, carers and our staff members are our first priority. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and are taking action to ensure our clients are able to access the care, services and advice they need.

If you are feeling unwell, we ask that you please reconsider your services and phone us to discuss options so that together, we can keep every one of our clients and staff safe and well.

In addition, our staff will continue to practice good hand hygiene, reduce unnecessary contact, and adopt other precautions including, for example, wearing a face mask.

Retirement Living – Perth Region

We remind our retirement living communities to follow WA Government directions in relation to this lockdown. Please remember to wear a mask outside your home and no private gatherings are permitted during this time.

All common areas will be closed during the lockdown and our Retirement Living Coordinators will be working from home.

All residents are reminded to always maintain physical distancing, good hand hygiene and cough etiquette, and if you are experiencing any symptoms, please see your GP.

Currently no Juniper staff or resident has tested positive to COVID-19.

Thanks to our entire Juniper community for your ongoing cooperation as we respond to this rapidly evolving situation. Your understanding and patience is always very much appreciated.

This information will be updated as further information comes to hand.
