It was more than five years ago that Kanchan Sharma began her nursing career at Juniper, but today she finds herself in a role that has ignited her passion for home care.

Recently transitioning into the role of a Client Care Advisor for Juniper’s Home and Community Care team, Kanchan has enjoyed the change of pace in the new role.

“I really enjoy this role,” Kanchan said. “I wanted a bit of a change and I wanted to find something that fit with my family, as I have a young son, so this role gives me more flexibility.”

Before moving into Home and Community Care, Kanchan worked as both an Enrolled Nurse, moving between Juniper’s Trinity and Cygnet Residential Aged Care homes and Charles Jenkins Transitional Care at Juniper’s Rowethorpe site in Bentley.

“Juniper has really supported me during my career, and I’m very grateful.”

But after five years of nursing, Kanchan was ready for a change and was encouraged by one of her managers to apply for the role of Client Care Advisor, where she could not only apply her existing skills and knowledge but also build relationships with older clients still living in the community.

“What I enjoy most about this role is engaging with the older people,” she said. “I love talking with them and hearing their stories and getting to know them. It is a very rewarding job.”

Moving to Australia from India in 2013, Kanchan has been afforded many opportunities to progress and take other steps in her career during her five years at Juniper.

In addition to her previous role as an Enrolled Nurse, Kanchan also completed training to become a therapy assistant after expressing interest in running lifestyle therapy activities with Juniper residents.

Kanchan said one of many reasons she has stayed with Juniper was the supportive team around her and opportunities to progress her career or pursue other roles.

“Juniper has really supported me during my career, and I’m very grateful,” she said.

“I have a very supportive team and manager.

“When I told my manager I wanted to change roles, she really helped me and she was the one who recommended I apply for the Client Care Advisor role.”
