Simulation Centre

In 2014 Juniper, in partnership with Curtin University, opened a simulated training facility that utilises advanced technology to create a realistic and practical learning environment for health science students.

Based in Bentley, within the Juniper Rowethorpe multi-service campus, the Juniper Simulation Centre re-creates a home/residential care setting for students, complete with real life Juniper Volunteers playing the role of clients and residents.

Best practice technology allows training scenarios to be recorded and played back to classrooms for constructive evaluation and reflection. This fresh and engaging method of education and training, is providing the next generation of health care professionals with invaluable, practical aged care experience.

Over 500 Curtin University health science students and Juniper staff members go through the Centre each year and since opening, it has been recognised with multiple industry awards.

Interprofessional Practice Program

Providing valuable, high quality clinical learning experiences for health science students, this program enables students to experience an aged care environment for the first time, under the watchful eyes of experienced Mentors.

In another successful collaboration with Curtin University, students from various health disciplines including nursing, speech pathology and physiotherapy undertake practical placements at Juniper Annesley in Bentley, one of our largest residential aged care facilities specialising in best practice palliative and dementia care.

Not only is the IPP boosting clinical capabilities and bringing a greater level of care to our residents who enjoy immensely the interactions with students and staff, it is promoting aged care as a rewarding and exciting career path to students – the health professionals of the future.

Juniper Gardens

Juniper’s custom designed interactive garden space provides an oasis of peace and tranquillity for residents and home care clients.

Centrally located in Balcatta, Juniper Gardens has been carefully designed to provide accessible and stimulating outdoor activities, connections with nature, families and friends and the means to grow and harvest produce.

Wide pathways for wheelchairs and raised garden beds make the space very accessible and a wide range of edible and fragrant plantings have been specifically selected to provide a variety of sensory and enjoyable interactive experiences.

A beautiful outdoor kitchen, complete with a pizza oven and barbecue enables visitors to prepare and eat the delicious produce, picked fresh from the garden.

Training & Development

Juniper is widely recognised as a learning organisation and we offer a vast array of training and development opportunities to our employees.

A customised and comprehensive Leadership Development Program is supporting staff in frontline management roles; giving them the skills, knowledge and confidence to take the next step in their career.

Regular Professional Development Days cover a variety of topics and contribute to employees’ Continuing Professional Education (CPE) points.

“Toolboxes” are distributed to each care facility, featuring a particular area of interest and containing useful resources such as posters, session plans for trainers and DVDs.

These are just some of the ways Juniper is inspiring motivating and upskilling its employees to shine in their current roles and advance their careers in the aged care sector.
